Virginia Kehl Byerley, 92, Parker, Kan., died Aug. 18, 2010. Graveside at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Prairie Home Cemetery, rural LaCygne, Kan. Virginia Kehl Byerley, age 92, of Parker, Kansas, died August 18, 2010 at North Point
Skilled Nursing Center in Paola.
Virginia was born April 29, 1918 in rural LaCygne, Kansas. She was the youngest of
five children born to Harrison Ingersoll and Bessie Opal (Mendel) Stainbrook. She
graduated from Parker Rural High School with the Class of 1935.
Virginia was married to Dalton Gustav "Sam" Kehl in October of 1939. They made their
home in the Parker area and became the parents of four children. Their marriage ended
in divorce in 1958.
Virginia and Max Byerley were married on January 30, 1973 at Parker. They made their
home in Parker.
Virginia was a beautician in the 1950s and worked out of May Vail's home. Virginia
was employed by the Osawatomie State Hospital where she worked as post mistress from
1958 until she retired in 1981. Virginia also worked as the Parker City Clerk from 1977
to 2001.
Virginia was a firm believer in making good use of your time. This belief was evident in
the many hobbies she enjoyed. She loved quilting, reading, housekeeping, embroidery,
sewing, growing flowers, gardening, canning, cooking, and being outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Paul and Ray Stainbrook, two
sisters Maude Sheetz and Audrey Stainbrook.
She is survived by her husband Max of the home; two sons Larry Kehl of Parker and
Allen Kehl of Russellville, Arkansas; two daughters Anne Shulista of Linn Valley Lakes,
Kansas and Tracy Kehl of Parker; one step-son Gene Byerley of Mesa, Arizona; one
step-daughter Katherine Stanley of Centerville, Kansas; 17 grandchildren; 30 great
grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Prairie Home
Cemetery, rural LaCygne, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Eddy-
Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. She will lie in state after 1 p.m. Friday.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons Ronnie Stanley, Shaun Matherly, Ronnie Jeffereys,
James Kehl, Mike Kehl, Doug Kehl, and Brett Kehl. Memorials are to the Parker Library
or the Parker Heritage Park.
