Amanda Kuebler, daughter of Selma (Weller) and John Kuebler, was born February 5, 1921 at Eureka. She was raised on her family’s farm 3 miles south of town and attended rural school. Following her schooling, she worked as a nanny in Aberdeen, SD and then returned to Eureka where she was employed at the Lutheran Home. Amanda married Alfred Lindemann at Zion American Lutheran Church on March 28, 1948. They first settled in Mound City, SD where Amanda ran a creamery out of her home. In 1954, they moved to the Lindemann farm nine miles SE of Mound City. In 1973 they moved into their newly built home in Eureka and Amanda eventually resumed employment at the Lutheran Home as a cook. Alfred died November 29, 1990 and Amanda retired shortly thereafter. She lived the remainder of her life in her house. She was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening and, when younger, did lots of sewing.
Amanda will be remembered for her “refreshing and entertaining” sense of humor. Amanda the storyteller had a “down to earth” perspective on life, people, and events that endeared her to anyone that knew her. She often made witty, quirky, and sometimes “off the wall” comments that were quite humorous and made even her own siblings ask “Where did she come from?” She was a true joy and blessing to be around; one would always feel uplifted after being around her. She will be dearly missed.
Amanda is survived by 1 son Randy (Debbie) Lindemann of Minneapolis, MN; and two grandchildren—Brad Lindemann of Minneapolis, MN and Melissa Lindemann of Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 brother (Emil Kuebler) and 2 sisters and their spouses-- Irene (Walter) Metzger and Annie (Oscar) Metzger.
Casketbearers will be Charles Wolff of Mitchell, SD, Walter Lindemann, Ralph Hoff, Mike Bertsch, and Loyd Sieler of Eureka, Russ Metzger of Aberdeen, Brad Lindemann of Minneapolis, and Ephriam Sieler of Rapid City, SD.
Lien-Straub Funeral Chapel of Eureka is in charge of arrangements.
