Leonard A. Bender, 58, Mandan, died June 2, 2000 in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Feeney officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Monday at Weigel Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m..
Leonard was born on May 6, 1942 in Mandan, the son of Adam and Ottilia (Berger) Bender. He was raised and educated in St. Anthony and Mandan. Leonard had been employed with Berg's Towing service and also had worked with Leingang Steel Siding.
He was a member of the Mandan Eagles Club.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lenice and Phil Jessen, Bismarck; one grandchild, Nicholas; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Jack and Eva, Minot, and Andy, Billings, Mont.; one sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine "Gerry" and Harry Kline, Mandan; and one sister-in-law, Ann Bender, Mandan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Albert. (Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan)
