She was born on Dec 23, 1912 in Leola, SD. Mrs. Gunsch married Martin Bender in 1931 and they resided in South Dakota. They moved to Lodi in 1948. Mr Bender preceeded her in death and she married Gideon Gunsch. Mr Gunsch preceeded her in death in 1985. She was employed at Stokely Cannery for 17 years and later worked as a housewife. Mrs. Gunsch enjoyed mission work for the Center of Hope and Rescue Shelter. She was a member of Assembly of God, Womens Ministry, American Legion Auxiliary, Gospel Rescue Mission at the Center of Hope. She was survived by three step-children, Gil Gunsch of Utah, Durene Mc Gourty of Montana and Joey Starr of Montana; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Ephriam Nies of Pittsburg and Milton Nies of Lodi. Mrs. Gunsch was preceeded in death by one sister, Cecilia Pederson; one brother, August Nies; one son, Melvin Bender; and one daughter, Flo Broux. The chapel service will be held at 10 am Thursay at Lodi Funeral Home with the Rev. Harl=old Duncan of Century Assembly Church officiating. Committal is at Cherokee Memorial Park. Visitation may be made from 9 am to 8 pm Wednesday and 8 am to service time Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Century Assembly.
