Bertha will be remembered for her vast love, unbreakable strength, giving heart and strong faith. What a blessing to have had such a kind, nurturing and loving role model in our lives. Bertha was an active church and community member in Ashley, ND for most of her life. She touched countless lives with her compassion and will forever be in the hearts of the family she leaves behind.
Bertha is preceded in death by her husband, Theophil Heupel, parents, Christ and Katharina (Hausauer) Aman, sister, Emma Spitzer and a great-grandchild. Bertha is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Ralph) Solberg of Billings, MT and sons Ken (Cindy) Heupel of Edmond, OK and Wil (Julie) Heupel of Eden Prairie, MN. She is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Bertha was born on January 18, 1920 in Eureka, SD. She attended Rosenthal School in McPherson County and married Theophil on November 20, 1949 at Eureka Congregational Church. Theo and Bertha actively farmed south of Ashley for 25 years, and then became owners of the Ashley Dinner Bell Café until 1983. Bertha relocated to Billings, MT in 2009 to live with her daughter and family. She spent her final year at Butterfly Homes Assisted Living and the family is grateful for the loving care provided to our dear Bertha. We also want to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice for their special care during Bertha’s final days.
