ohn Anthony Scrima Beloved husband of Martha; dear father of Angela (Michael) Hellweg, Russell (Ligaya) Scrima, Valerie (Jeffery) Gohring, Glenn, Zachary and Kiernan Scrima; grandfather of Joe, Tony, Daniela Joy and Isaac Scrima; brother of Margaret Peters Swauger. John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George Richard "Dick" Peters. Dear uncle, cousin and friend to many. John was born on November 10, 1941 to Joseph Scrima and Wilhelmina Scheib Peters, in Pittsburgh, PA. He married his high-school sweetheart, Martha Ann Trageser, on October 5, 1963. John worked at Cerro Copper Products for 35 years, retiring in 2007. John started working in their computer department and rose to Management Information Systems Director when he retired. John was the first President of Pennsylvanian's For Life. John was a founding member of Shelter the Children and served on the Board of Directors for 10 years. Shelter the Children established two homes in St. Louis for girls 17 ? 21 who were homeless and at-risk. Shelter the Children is now incorporated into Covenant House of Missouri. John served as Treasurer and Service Member of the Catholic Renewal Center of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. John was a member of Pontiac Oakland Club International (POCI) Arch Chapter and restored an award-winning 1965 Pontiac Grand Prix, which he exhibited at several conventions across the United States. John was also involved with the Boy Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, Heart to Heart Bible Study, and other volunteer organizations.
