Walter J. Beining, 69, Lima, died at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 1992, at his residence.
He was born January 18, 1923, in Ottoville, the son of Joseph and Veronica (Koetter) Beining. On May 4, 1948, he married Marjory May Hotz, who died January 1, 1992.
Mr. Beining was a retired electrician from the Lima Ford Engine Plant. He formerly owned Beining Motor Repair Shop in Ottoville. Mr. Beining was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church; the United Auto Workers Local 1219; and an Army Veteran of World War II, 42nd Rainbow Infantry Division.
Survivors include four sons, David Beining, Atlanta, GA, Thomas Beining, Cridersville, James Beining, Plymouth, IN, and Steven Beining, Toledo; eight daughters, Mrs. James (Jan) Towey, Ada, Mrs. Dan (Joyce) Kile, Rochester Hills, MI, Mrs. Ray (Bonnie) Barnett, San Angelo, TX, Mrs. Michael (Lora) Grapner, Henderson, CO, and Mrs. Robert (Karen) Foley, Mrs. Jeff (Sandy) Dackin, Mrs. Scott (Donna) Campbell, and Mrs. Gary (Jill) Lewis, all of Lima; 27 grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Beining, Ottoville; and two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Ricker, Delphos, and Mrs. Lauretta Miller, Ottoville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Beining and Joseph Beining; and one sister, Jenny Becker.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday (today) at St. Gerard Catholic Church. Rev. Dennis Sweeney officiated. Burial was in Gethsemani Cemetery. Hogenkamp-Bonham Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or to St. Rita’s Hospice.
