Ralph Schmaltz, 61, Linton Mail Carrier Ralph Schmaltz, 61, Linton, died in the Linton Hospital Tuesday afternoon of an apparent heart attack. He had entered the hospital only a few minutes before he died. ' A rural mail carrier at Linton since 1945, Mr. Schmaltz was born in Strasburg,. Nov. 8, 1910, to John and Clara (Bullinger) Schmaltz Sr. He grew up at Strasburg, moving to Linton as a young man, and was employed as a meat cutter for his father. He married Maxine L. Wagher there Jan. 21, 1939. After serving in the U.S. Navy in New Guinea from 1943-45. he returned to Linton. Mr. Schmaltz was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, 40 et 8, Wildlife Club, and the Linton Fire Department. Also a member of the American Legion, he had served as district deputy several years ago. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Linton, the Rev. Bernard Diekhoff officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military honors by the Dan R. Richard-Son American Legion Post. Pallbearers will be Matt Schneider, Melvin Schmaltz, Eugene Reimer, Phillip Lapp, Art Dockter and Leo Materi. Mr. Schmaltz, leaves his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Paul i Kay Marie) Morrison, Denver, Colo.; two grandchildren; four brothers, John Jr., Linton; Hugo, Washburn; Leo, Prescott, Ariz., and Mike, La Puenti, Calif.; and five sisters, Mrs. Mary Heer, Liaton; Felicia Schmaltz. Gnfton; Mrs. Leo Schall, Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. John Bryan, Batesville, Ark., and Mrs. Agatha Pruax, Dunedin, Fla. A rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Kraft Funeral Chapel in Linton.
