Mass for Viola ?Vi? Hartin, 68, Omaha, Neb., formerly of Glen Ullin, will be held at 11 a.m. CDT today, Aug. 28, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Glen Ullin. Vi passed away Aug. 23, 2013, in Omaha.
Vi was born Dec. 14, 1944, in Mandan, the daughter of Daniel and Katherine (Heidt) Gartner. She lived in the Glen Ullin area until 1958 when she moved to Bismarck to work and attend community college. In 1968, Vi moved to Sioux City, Iowa, to work. It was here that she met Daniel Hartin. The two were married on Oct. 2, 1971. In 1985, the couple moved to Omaha where they lived until her death.
Vi worked for Security American as an analyst for the last 20 years until she retired in 2010. She was very active with the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and Legion of Mary during her life in Omaha. She enjoyed working in her yard and flower gardens, collecting Fenten Glass and Elvis Presley memorabilia and attending auctions looking for a piece to add to her collections.
Vi is survived by her husband, Daniel, Omaha; her siblings, Willie and Hilda Gartner, West Fargo, Esther and Duane Burman, Sioux Falls, S.D., Marlene and Gene Tschosik, Strasburg, Ida Kottenbrock, Bismarck, and Rose Mary Ell, North Richland Hills, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Katherine Gartner.
