Carl N. 'Bud' Mickley
age 81, passed away peacefully in his home in North Canton, Ohio, on Saturday afternoon, May 4, 2013, after a courageous, determined and dignified battle with lung cancer. Bud was born in Danville Ohio on Aug. 12, 1931 and is predeceased by his former wife, Mary Louise Mickley (Crum) of Canton; his father, Raymond Mickley of Danville; his mother, Clara Mickley (Hammond) of Danville; a sister, Marilyn (Tom) Zwick of Louisville; brothers, Louis Mickley and Gary Mickley, both from Louisville, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Nancy McQuillan of Keego Harbor, Mich.; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia E. Mickley of Springfield, Va.
He is survived by his spouse, Sally Mickley of North Canton; four children, Joseph (Fay) Mickley of Springfield, Va., Mark (Cheryl) Mickley of Carrollton, Patrick (Stephanie) Mickley, of North Canton, Susan (Rick) Lees of Stow; and two stepsons, Chris (Shelly) Santucci of Kokomo, Ind. and Jeff (Wendy) Santucci of Massillon. Bud is also survived by six bothers, Richard Mickley of the Philippines, James (Kenyon) Mickley of North Canton, Tom (Carole) Mickley of Louisville, Daniel (Carol) Mickley of Dalton, Charles 'Lonnie' (Donna) Mickley of Corapolis Pa., and David (Karen) Mickley of North Canton. Bud will also be missed by 21 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends. Bud was a retired Ford Motor Company employee with 30 years of service and was well respected for his work ethic and attention to detail. Prior to working at Ford, Bud owned and operated a plumbing business (CN Mickley Plumbing & Heating) and participated in co-ownership, renaming and management of Skyland Pines Golf Course in Canton. Bud loved to travel and was involved with many civic, social, and religious organizations throughout his life.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, located at 241 South Main Street in North Canton. It was Bud's desire to donate his body to medical science for teaching and research at the Cleveland Clinic. A graveside memorial service will be held at a future date and time to be announced after the cremated remains are returned to the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercy Home Care, whose staff provided skilled, compassionate in-home care for the past few months.
