George F. Mattison, 76, 511 Follett Run Road, Warren, died Sunday, September 18, 1994, at Transitional Hospital, Tampa FL.
He was born on April 7, 1918, in Clarendon to the late Franklin and Mable Cutherbertson Mattison. He was employed as a field auditor throughout western Pennsylvania for the State Liquor Control Board. He served in the US Army with the 34th (Red Bull) Division in Italy during World War II. He was a rifleman with heavy weapons. He received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Francis Assisi Episcopal Church, Youngsville, Coudersport Consistory; past grand master of Youngsville Lodge No. 500, I.O.O.F.; served two terms as secretary of Farrah Grotto; was a past master of North Star Lodge No. 241, F & AM, Warren; was an 18 year member of Boy Scouts' Chief Cornplanter Council and was a recipent of key and scouting awards.
In addition to his parents, he was preced in death by his wife, doris A. Disque Mattison, on July 14, 1993.
]Surviving are two sons, George Mattison, Jr., Royal Palm, FL and Sennis F. Mattison, clarendon, and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Sunday, september 25, at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, Youngsville, with Rev. Brian Reid, rector, officiating. Burial was in Barns Cemetery.
