Clarence Elmer Stafford
Clarence Elmer Stafford son of Samuel and Rose Morehead Stafford was Born April 17,1892 at Republic, Kansas and died at the Chase County hospital on Dec. 10, 1972 at the age of 80 years. The early years of his life were spent on a farm in the community of Republic where he grew to manhood. He united in membership with the Methodist church. After graduating from high school he attended the Wesleyan University of Kansas. On April 15, 1914 he was united in marriage with Clara McClure of Republic. To this union four children were born. They lived on a farm in Republic County until 1931 when they moved to a ranch south of Lamar, Nebr. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, four brothers. Earl, Harold, Orval and Clifford, three sisters, Maud (Mrs. Bert Milner), Mrs. Lee Bowersox and Zella Stafford. Survivors include two sons, Roy and wife, Marlene of Vernon, Tex., Carl and wife, Gail of Haigler, Nebr., two daughters, Vivian Kunkel and husban Max of Lamar and Ruth Fanning and husband Charles of Florence, Ore., one sister (Belle) Mrs. Amil Nelson of Belleville and fourteen grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the United Methodist church in Imperial with Rev. Melvin Koelling officiating. Burial was at Mount Hope cemetery.
