Glenn Harris Allendorph, 84, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, surrounded by his family. Born in Albany on July 4, 1925, he was the son of the late Glenn and Margaret (Steenburgh) Allendorph of Rensselaer and was a graduate of Rensselaer High School. Glenn proudly served his country in the European Theater during WWII, serving with the 34th Infantry Division, earning the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Bronze Star. In 1946 Glenn began working for the State Bank of Albany. He was an Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager in many locations, including Loudonville, Colonie Center and Watervliet and retired from Fleet Bank in 1988. He was a member of Guilderland Kiwanis, the VFW, Father D'Orio's Outreach Ministry and Christ the King Church where he was a part of the visitation ministry and the Lunch Bunch. He married Marilyn Burkhard on September 8, 1951. Glenn is survived by his loving wife; daughters, Andrea (Michael) Cooper of Wolfeboro, NH and Linda (Bert) McMillen of Selkirk; sons, Glenn (Rhonda) of Delanson and James (Lisa) of Delmar; grandchildren, Adam (Patricia) Cooper, Allie Cooper, Angel Harpster, Stewart and Mary Allendorph; step-grandchildren, Rachael (Jon) Rogers, Rebecca (Doug) Morrissey, Mehgan and Kelly McMaster; step great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Riley, Ainsley, Jenna and Samantha; brothers-in-law, Regis (Gloria) Burkhard, James Burkhard, and the Rev. John Burkhard; and sisters-in-law, Kathy Underwood and Laurie Burkhard. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary and granddaughter, Grace M. Allendorph. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Church. Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. The parish family of Christ the King Church will gather at 4:30 p.m. Sunday for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Church Building Fund, 20 Sumpter Ave., Albany, NY 12203, in memory of Glenn H. Allendorph.
