Herb A. Kleingartner, 84, Minot, died early in the morning on Saturday, April 4, 2009, in the ICU Unit of Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Herbert Alvin Kleingartner was born on a farm south of Mercer to Ed and Bertha (Bender) Kleingartner on April 17, 1924. He attended school in McClusky and achieved his general education development certificate in Minot.

Herb was a great "people person." He managed to meet people he knew or who were related to people he knew wherever he went from Alaska to a castle in Germany. His girls always tried to hurry him through the State Fairgrounds to get to the rides, but were never able to avoid many stops to visit.
Herb married Marie Alice Pearson on April 9, 1946. To this union four daughters were born: Gertrude "Trudy," Connie, Shelly and Becky.
Herb had been a member of Christ Lutheran Church since 1956. He also belonged to Greater Kiwanis and later the Golden Kiwanis, where he enjoyed being a loyal bell ringer and an usher for numerous events.
Those who shared in his life: Loving wife, Marie, Minot; daughters, Gertrude "Trudy" (Doug) Evenstad, Pierre, S.D., Shelly (Dale) Hanenburg, Manchester, Iowa, and Becky (Greg) Horner, Grand Forks.
