Pauline Wittmeier, daughter of Christina (Hieb) and Henry Wittmeier, was born at Zeeland, N.D., on July 29, 1916. Soon after, the family relocated to the Kaul farm, 3 miles south of Hosmer, near which Pauline attended rural school. Pauline married Edwin A. Kirschenmann at Hosmer on Sept. 19, 1933. They settled on a farm 5 miles south of Hosmer. In October 1983, they retired and moved into Hosmer, where Pauline enjoyed baby-sitting neighboring children. Edwin died March 2, 1985. Pauline continued living in Hosmer and since October 2005, had resided at the Senior Citizens Home. She was active in her lady's church group and sang in the choir. She enjoyed crocheting, making doilies and afghans, and quilting. When folks gathered at Pauline's home, there was always plenty of food and she was known for her homemade noodle soup. She will be remembered for her love of music. Pauline and her sisters loved to sing together, especially gospel songs, and Pauline also played the harmonica.
