Norma Preszler, 76, Hosmer, SD, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Avera St. Luke?s Hospital, Aberdeen, SD. Funeral services will be 2:30 PM, Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Hosmer Reformed Church with Pastor James Grossmann leading the service. Burial follows at Bethany Cemetery, Hosmer, with ?Gone Home? being sung. Organist will be Michelle Grossmann and the Prairie Harmony Singers will sing ?Prettiest Flowers Ever Blooming? and ?I Won?t have to Worry Anymore?. The congregation will sing ?Safe in the Arms of Jesus? and ?Amazing Grace, how sweet the Sound?. Usher will be Ray Jung.
Funeral home visitation will begin 9:00 AM Friday with a 7:00 PM prayer service. Visitation resumes at the funeral home from 9:00-11:00 AM Saturday and at the church beginning 1:30 PM Saturday.
Norma Delores Schaible, daughter of Eva (Gutjahr) and Fred Schaible, was born at the Eureka Hospital on June 26, 1936. She was brought up on the Schaible farm 5 ¼ miles SE of Hosmer and attended Sangamon TWSHP Rural School. Her dad?s failing health caused Norma to quit school so she could work on the farm. Norma married Marvin Preszler at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Hosmer on October 21, 1956. They first rented a farm seven miles south and 1 mile east of Hosmer. In 1964 they purchased the Christ Bauer farm 4 ½ miles SE of Hosmer which was earlier owned by Marvin?s grandfather. This is where Norma raised her family and lived the rest of her life. She was a member of the Hosmer Reformed Church and sang in the choir. She loved growing flowers, photographing nature, and took special pride in decorating her backyard. Norma played piano by ear and enjoyed singing while playing. She will be remembered as a great cook with cheese buttons and chocolate pie among her family?s favorites.
Norma?s family was her life, namely-Marvin, her husband of 56 years; two sons-Chad (Dawn) Preszler of Hosmer and Jason (Heidi) Preszler of Roscoe, SD; four daughters?Londa (Mathew) Malsom of Roscoe, Darcy (Keith) Kramlich and Lisa (Rick) Rau both of Eureka, SD, and Stacy (Tim) Hoffer of Laramie, WY; one brother Herbert Schaible of Hosmer; two sisters-Leone Spitzer of Aberdeen and Hildegarde Lehr of Roscoe; sixteen grandchildren?Kevin (Jenna) Malsom and Tim Malsom of Roscoe, Reed (Andrea) Rau of Orange City, Iowa, Landon and Colton Hoffer of Laramie, Amanda (Bill) Schaefer of Hoven, SD, Kari (Mathew) Wolff of Oak Grove, MN, Kelly (T.J.) Serr of Aberdeen, Kristen Kramlich of St. Louis, MO, Heather (Jordan) Mehlhaff and Nicole and Layne Rau of Eureka, Alexandra, Nathan, and Kaitlyn Preszler of Roscoe, and Aidan Preszler of Hosmer; and one great grandson, Calvin Wolff.
She was preceded in death by her father on October 29, 1959, her mother on January 6, 1995, and two sisters (Adina Kirschenmann and Edna Guthmiller).
Casketbearers will be Norma?s grandsons.
