Leo F. Putzier, age 82, of Winona, MN, died on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI.
Leo was born on November 28, 1928, in St. Charles, MN, to Gust and Margaret (Wegman) Putzier. On July 14, 1949, he was united in marriage with Elaine Schueler at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winona.
He honorably served his country with the United States Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post 9 and the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. Leo was an over-the-road semi driver for Bud Meyer Trucking in Lake City, MN, before he was employed in maintenance at the Winona County Courthouse. He enjoyed camping, but most of all he loved his grandchildren and was very proud of them.
Leo is survived by his wife, Elaine Putzier, Winona, MN; sons, Thomas (Lanita) Putzier, Elba, MN, and Kenneth (Carrie) Putzier, Winona, MN; grandchildren, Timothy (Stephanie) Putzier, Rochester, MN, Jillian Putzier, Elba, MN, Jason Putzier, Winona, MN, and Jayme Putzier, Winona, MN; great grandson, Gavin; siblings, Eugene Putzier, St. Charles, MN, Catherine (Marvin) Hruska, Sturgis, SD, Mary Ann Aldrich, Derby, KS, Lawrence (Kathy) Putzier, St. Charles, MN, and George (Pat) Putzier, St. Charles, MN; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dwain, and his brothers, Vincent Putzier and Ivan Putzier.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 AM, on Thursday, October 20, 2011, at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.
The Reverend Richard Colletti will officiate.
Leo will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4 PM until 7 PM, on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:30 PM. Visitation will also be held at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, on Thursday, October 20, 2011, from 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM.
