FRED JOHN GILL,age 80, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at the V.A. Northern Indiana Health Care System in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Mr. Gill was born in Huntington County, Indiana on April 27, 1931 to the late Fred J. Gill and Lucille (Yerman) Gill.
He graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1949.
He service his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954 He attained the rank of Corporal and earned the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with 2 stars, and the United Nations Service Medal.
He married Jean Parker on October 10, 1959 at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Huntington.
Fred was retired from Magnovox in Fort Wayne after 25 years of service.
Survivors include:
Wife, Jean Gill of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Angela Henry of Fort Wayne.
Son, Allen Gill of Fort Wayne.
Son, Gary, and his wife Sue, Gill of Fort Wayne.
Five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Sister, Sister Miriam Therese Gill,S.S.N.D. of Huntington.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Bernadette Gill, Florence Lambert, and Marcella "Sallie" Bauer; and his brother, George A. Gill.
A funeral mass to celebrate the life of Fred Gill will be Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 11:00am at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, Indiana. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral mass
Officiating the mass will be Fr. Ron Rieder.
Military honors will be conducted at the church following the funeral service.

Survivors include wife, Jean Gill; daughter, Angela Henry; sons, Allen Gill and Gary (Sue) Gill; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and Sister, Sister Miriam Therese Gill, S.S.N.D.
