Fred Clinton Jackson, 85, of Henderson, Kentucky, former East Liverpool, Ohio resident and businessman, died at 2:17 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2011 at the St Anthony Hospice, Lucy Smith King Care Center. He died peacefully surrounded by his four children. Born June 3, 1925 in Bellaire Ohio, he was the son of Lesley Clinton Jackson and Martha Kreiter Jackson. He and his wife Alma moved to the East Liverpool area in 1946 where they resided for over 60 years. They relocated to Henderson, Kentucky in January 2009.
Upon graduation from Bellaire High School in 1943, Fred enlisted in the US Navy. He served during WWII on the submarine USS Lizardfish with active duty in the South Pacific from 1943-1946. Following his military service, he was employed by the Ohio Power Company from 1946-1953. In 1953, he accepted a position at Sayre Electric Affiliates where he eventually became President/Owner. He was an active member of the community serving as a board member for Central Federal Bank, East Liverpool City Hospital, The Mary Patterson Foundation, and Riverview Cemetery. He was a former member of the Rotary Club, East Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, Jaycee’s, and the East Liverpool Country Club. After retiring from Sayre Electric in 1987, he continued serving the community by participating in Liverpool Township improvements and eventually serving as zoning Inspector. Fred, along with his good friend, Jerry Anderson, volunteered their time and talents to many civic projects including the Old Timers Baseball Complex, Mangano Memorial Running Track, and Calcutta Veterans Memorial Park. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Henderson and St. Aloysius Community Parish in East Liverpool.
In his spare time Fred enjoyed working outdoors and tending his garden; but his greatest joy in life was the pride he had in his family.
