  [S927] Obituary. Robert L. Haas, 85, Velpen Robert L. Haas, 85, Velpen, died at 5:10 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, at The Waters of Hunting- burg in Huntingburg. He was born in Huntingburg on March 31, 1929, to Henry A. and Rosena (Mehling) Haas. He married Virginia Nell ?Jen- nie? Givens on March 9, 1968, in Shawneetown, Ill. She died June 28, 2012. Surviving are a daughter, Theresa Hathaway of Prince- ton; three sons, David Haas and wife Debbie of Huntingburg, Jerry Haas of Lynnville and Roger W. Brown of Evansville; two sisters, Lucille Kellams of Jasper and Shirley Haas of Velpen; ?ve grandchildren; and ?ve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Haas. Mr. Haas was a retired fur- niture factory worker and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He served in the U.S. Army with the 181st Airborne during the Korean War and received a ser- vice-connected disability. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Burial will be in Montgomery Cem- etery in Oakland City. Father Ryan Hilderbrand and Deacon Thomas Holsworth will offici- ate. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A parish rosary service will be held at 3 p.m. Condolences may be shared New Albany was in charge of arrangements.
