  [S927] Obituary. Mr. and Mrs George Bernhard Died- In Sodus, of pneumonia, Mrs. George Bernhard , on the morning of Dec. 26 1893, aged 70 years. Her husband surviving her but one day.Mrs. Bernhard was born in Baravia, Germany. Her maiden name was Barbara Feicok. She came to this country whaen a young woman became acquainted with Mr. Bernhard, and they were married in Lyons, Wayne County, New York , July 5, 1842 Both experienced religion shortley after there marriage, and united with the German Evengelist Church, of which they were bothe faithful members until the Master said it is enough come up higher.Mrs. Bernhard was a faithful, affectionate wife: a loving mother;a kind neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand to the needy and adminster to the sick. Many times she has cheered the heart of the writer when feeling sad and lonely none knew this beloved woman but to love her.Mr. Benhard was born in France, Feb. 22,1812 and sailed to his country while in his youth.This happy couple owned a farm one mile south of Joy, on which they had lived nearly 40 years. They were equally loved and respected by neighbors aand friends.They lived together 51 years; died toghter; and were buried in one grave, there to await the resurrection of the just. Adouble funeral was held at Joy Church, on the afternoon of Dec 30, Rev. M Schlenck, of Syracuse Newark officiating, assisted by Rev. M. Gaffney, of Sodus Center.They leave four daughters- Mrs John Paul, of Newark; Mrs John Miller t, and Miss Emma Bernhard , of Joy. They also leave three grandchildren Miss Paul, of Newark; George Miller, of Joy. Three sons preceded them to the better land.
