PANA - Kenneth Laverne "Squeak" Koontz, 83, of Pana died 9:45 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 4, 2000) in his home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home, Pana, with the Rev. Lawrence Gibson officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana, with military rites by Pana VFW Post 4431. In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Heart Association.
Mr. Koontz was born in Pana on Dec. 4, 1916, the son of Alfred and Ethel Florence Patterson Koontz.
He lived his entire life in Pana, graduated from Pana High School, was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from Illinois Roses Ltd. at age 65. He was a member of Pana VFW Post 4431, an avid fisherman and a diehard Cubs fan. He married Alma W. Humphrey on March 17, 1938, in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on June 5, 1991.
Surviving are his children, Janet Chaney of Pana; Julie Lebon of Pana; David Koontz and wife Sonja of Pana; Glenda Kuhn and husband Wayne of Pana; brothers, Norbert Koontz of Shelbyville; Lewis "Cueball" Koontz of Pana; William Koontz of Fox Lake, Wis.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; daughter, Carolyn Boyster; sisters, Isabell Zunkel, Doris Koontz, Thelma Cloe, Beulah Hadowsky, Glenda Condon; and brother, Alfred Koontz Jr.
