J. Bruce Blossman
J. BRUCE BLOSSMAN October 11, 1935 - August 1, 2009 Born 1935 in New Orleans, LA, peacefully died at home in Santa Fe, NM with his wife near his side. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank Joseph Blossman and Marjorie Keen Blossman of Houston, TX. Survived by his wife, Eleonor E. Hellman of Santa Fe, NM; son, John Brandon Blossman and wife Michelle Lewis of Houston, TX; daughters: Jacinda Bou Blossman and her mother, Judy Boh of Clear Lake Shores, TX, and Wilhelmina Holmberg and her mother, Margaret Holmberg of Stockholm, Sweden; sister, June Knight Godwin of Houston, TX; and many relatives. Graduated 1962 from University of Colorado, Boulder, in architectural engineering. Practiced architecture, architectural engineering, and environmental engineering first as a Peace Corps volunteer in Tunis, Tunisia, and later with Engineering Science of Parsons corporation in Houston, TX. Retired in 1993, Bruce and Eleonor set sail for new adventures aboard their sailing vessel, Horizons. By 2000, the boat sold and the couple moved to Santa Fe. While living in NM, Bruce continued to enjoy his passion for boating, boat building, and a strong commitment to community. Through his last months of illness, Bruce and Eleonor enjoyed the compassionate care provided by PMS Hospice in Santa Fe, and the VA in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Remembrance celebrations will be held on Saturday, August 22, at the Eldorado Community Center in Santa Fe, NM, and on Sunday, October 11 in Clear Lake Shore, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Vista Grande Public Library, 14 Avenida Torreon, Santa Fe, NM 87508 or the PMS Hospice Center, 1400 Chama Ave., Santa Fe, NM 87508.
