Helen Ada Guthmiller: Helen Ada Ellwanger Guthmiller was born northeast of
Anoka, Nebraska on September 25, 1916 to Jacob and Christina Ellwanger. She
attended grades school at District 9. She attended her first two years of high
school at Anoka. Then she attended Butte High School for the last two years and
graduated in 1933. After graduation, Helen worked at home, helping the family,
especially after the death of her parents. She said she started milking cow
when she was five years old.
On April 25, 1949 she married Emanuel Guthmiller Jr. at the courthouse in Burke,
SD. The Lord blessed her union with two children, Elaine and Kevin. Helen
liked to garden, and raise house plants. Her favorite outdoor flowers were
Hollyhocks. She loved to read and bake and have company. She lived on their
farm for 60 years.
Helen fell asleep in Jesus on March 24, 2011 in Central City, NE at the age of
94 years, 5 months, and 27 days. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church
in Butte.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson, eight
brothers, 5 sisters, and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She is survived in life by a daughter Elaine and husband Kenny Breyer of
Glenwood, IA; a son Keven and wife Kitty of Archer, NE; eight grandchildren;
Audra and husband Chris Weber of Omaha, NE; Keith Breyer of Glenwood, IA; Amanda
and husband Heath Wright of Omaha, NE; Angie Breyer of Winchester, VA; Mandy
Guthmiller of Sioux Falls, SD; Dustin Guthmiller of Sioux City, IA; Jason
Guthmiller and wife Melissa of Sioux City, IA; and Tygh Neumiller of Ainsworth,
NE; Two great-granddaughters, Amelia Neumiller and Kailey Johnson; one
brother-in-law Abe Guthmiller of Butte; one sister-in-law Iva Guthmiller of
Butte; and many nieces and nephews.
Services: Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at 11 am in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in
Butte, NE
Interment: Butte City Cemetery in Butte, NE, following the services in the
church.
