Otto "Red" Guthmiller, 77
(Oct. 12) Otto "Red" Guthmiller, 77, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999 at West Holt Memorial Hospital in Atlinson.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1921 at Anoka to Emmamual an dJohanna (Fromm) Guthmiller. He was baptized at the Congregational Church near Fairfax, S.D. and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfax April, 1937.
He attended rural Anoka school and served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Islands.
On August 29, 1948 he married Jue Maxine Vance at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfax. They lived and farmed northeast of Anoka and were blessed with two adopted children.
He was a member of th eImmanuel Lutheran Church in Butte, and was active in the community, serving as District No. 40 School Board President for many of years.
He retired farminand moved to Butte in 1990. He entered the Butte Care Center in 1997 and then moved to Parkside manor in Stuart in 1998.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Karri of Alliance; daughter, Carol, and special friend David Laravie of Norfolk; six grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Abe and Ella of Anoka; sister, Alvina Camin of Butte; sisters-in-law, Helen Guthmiller of Anoka and Iva Guthmiller of Butte; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, june, and brothers, Theobold, Emmanual Jr., and Aaron.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Butte. Rev. Don Erickson will officiate with burial in Butte City Cemetery in Butte.
Brockhaus Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
