Life Legacy
Funeral services for Iva Mae Guthmiller, age 86, of Butte, Nebraska will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at St. John Lutheran Church in Gregory, South Dakota. Reverend Jared R. Nies will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery at Gregory.
Visitation will be Monday, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., at the church in Gregory, with a 7:30 p.m. Prayer Service.
Iva Mae died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Avera Gregory Hospital in Gregory, South Dakota.
Iva Mae (Smith) Guthmiller, daughter of Issac ?Ike? and Hazel (Vawser) Smith, was born on September 3, 1926, at her parent?s home. Iva attended grade school at Heinart Country School through the sixth grade.
Iva worked as a housekeep for several families until she married Ruben Delzer on September 24, 1953. The couple lived at various places in the Gregory, South Dakota area. They also spent a brief time living in California. Iva and Ruben then returned to South Dakota, where they lived in the Gregory area until Ruben?s death in 1962. On August 18, 1963, Iva then married Aaron Guthmiller of Butte, Nebraska. They lived on the farm northeast of Butte until Aaron?s death in 1986. She then moved to town, until entering the Butte Nursing Home in 2006.
Iva is survived by her three children, Roland of Sutherland, Nebraska, Mavis (and special friend Gene DeLong) of O?Neill, Nebraska, and Leroy (wife Jodi) of Butte, Nebraska; grandchildren, Rosa of O?Neill, Eric of Ellsworth, Nebraska, Chad of Arnold, Nebraska, and Holly of Lincoln, Nebraska; one great-granddaughter; a brother, Melvin (wife LeRay) Smith of Dallas, South Dakota; and two sisters, Ila (Dean) DeLong of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Melva (Bob) Miller of Redfield, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands; parents; one grandson; three sisters; and two brothers.
