QUINCY -- William P. Callahan, 76, of Quincy, formerly of Oglesby, died Friday morning, Dec. 21, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Shields Funeral Chapel in Oglesby. Burial will be later at St. Vincent's Cemetery in La Salle. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Callahan was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Ottawa, to Peter and Frances (Hellman) Callahan. He married Nancy Barth April 24, 1954, at St. Hyacinth's Church in La Salle.
He was a music teacher at Marquette High School in Ottawa and was a later a consultant for the Illinois Department of Education.
He was a member of Holy Family Church. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict and was a member of the Navy Band.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Hopedale; two sons, Petey (Deb Rousch) of Princeton and James (Julie) of Stanford; four grandchildren; five sisters, Patricia (Bill) Gerding and Carol Mackey, both of Ottawa, Joyce (Jerry) Barla of Seneca, Bonnie (Dom) Verona of Carriere, Miss., and Mary Ann (Jim) Schwarzbach of Geneva.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Memorials may be directed to the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy.
