Frances Callahan
OTTAWA -- Frances G. Callahan, 93, of Ottawa died Feb. 2, 1998, in the Ottawa Pavilion.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Columba Catholic Church, Ottawa. The Rev. Gerald G. Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday in Gladfelter Funeral Home, Ottawa. A liturgical prayer service will be at 4 p.m. with the Catholic Daughters of America in attendance.
She was born April 25, 1904, in Ottawa to Frank and Lavina (Pfeiffer) Hellman. She married Peter Emmett Callahan on Dec. 1, 1926, in Ottawa.
She worked as a clerk for the La Salle County Recorder's Office. She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America. She was a former chairwoman of the La Salle Democratic Women.
Survivors are a son, William (Nancy) Callahan of Oglesby; five daughters, Patricia (William) Gerding of Ottawa, Carol Mackey of Elwood, Joyce (Gerald) Barla of Seneca, Bonnie (Dominic) Verona of New Orleans and Mary Ann (Jim) Schwarzbach of Geneva; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph (Rose) Hellman of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 17, 1977; a daughter, Jane (William) Eurich; a grandson; two brothers; and three sisters.
Memorials may be directed to the Catholic Daughters of America or to the family.
