Bulfer, 69, of 706 14th Ave., died Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1992 at Mendota Community Hospital. Mr. Bulfer was born Dec. 5, 1922 in Sublette, a son of Andrew and Nancy (Turner) Bulfer. He married Marian Henkel in Sublette Oct. 3, 1945. He was a farmer in the Sublette area until 1979 and for the past 13 years was a driver of the Mendota Area Senior Services bus. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, Mendota Elks Lodge and Holy Cross Catholic Church. Services were at 10a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Church, the Rev. James King officiating. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery, Sublette. Pallbearers were James Malach, Joe Henkel, Charles Sanders, Cliff Walters, Donny Clark and Charles Kuebel. Visitation was 3-9 p.m. Friday at Schwarz Funeral Home with a rosary at 8 p.m. Surviving are his wife of Mendota; two sons, Bill of Peoria and Brian of Lutz, Fla.; three daughters, Beverly Schammel of Maryland Heights, Mo., Barbara Bonnell of Rochelle and Susan Fassler of Sublette; 12 grandchildren; four brothers, Joseph of San Diego, Calif., J. Lester of Mendota, Gilbert of Sublette and Dennis of Dixon; and three sisters, Mary Dalsanto and Dorothy Sreenan, both of Rockford and Ellen Jones of Mendota. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Rose Koenig, two brothers and one sister in infancy.
