He was raised in Lincoln, NE and graduated from Lincoln East High School where he was a member of the Gymnastics team. Steve attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln and then joined the US Army where he achieved Sergeant ranking. He returned to Lincoln working at Lincoln Telephone Company / Alltel. He joined Sprint / Nextel, relocating to Kansas City and later moved to Dallas where he retired after 20 years in project management and business development. Steve is survived by his wife Valerie Eitzmann of Dallas; son and daughter-in-law, James and Samantha Eitzmann of Baltimore; son, Elliott Eitzmann of Dallas; grandson Max Eitzmann of Baltimore; mother, Olga Eitzmann of Lincoln; brothers and sister-in-laws, Murray and Kathy Eitzmann of Balston Lake, NY, Kent and Kara Eitzmann of Lincoln; sisters and brother-in-laws, Karen and Vaughn Gebers of Lincoln, Jayne and Loyal Nyhoff of Lincoln; mother-in-law and close friend, Marilyn Niemeyer and Gordon Martindale of Lincoln; Dearell and Roslynn Niemeyer of Atlanta, GA; nieces and nephews, Jean, Kevin, Dayna, Lauryn, Drew, Derek, Paul, Nathan. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Eitzmann, and brother-in-law, Mark Niemeyer. Steve loved sports and especially enjoyed watching Husker football and Dallas Mavericks basketball. Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing golf, rugby and softball. Along with sports, he held a passion for his sons, his grandson, animals, and fishing on the family farm in Nebraska.
