Patrick was born March 16, 1928 in Taylorville, Illinois to William Henry and Gladys Lenora Sill Sheahan. Patrick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict; after his honorable discharge from the Army, Patrick attended University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois where he earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Business Education. After obtaining his masters degree, Patrick taught high school business courses at Joliet Township High School; he then taught high school business at Big Rapids High School in Big Rapids, Michigan. After leaving Big Rapids, he attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois where he received his Doctor of Education degree in 1972. After receiving his Ed.D, he taught Business Education at California State University in Northridge, California for one year. He then relocated to Park Forest, IL where he taught Business Education at Governors State University in University Park, Illinois. After teaching at Governors State, Patrick taught Business Education at DePaul University in Chicago until his retirement in 1979. Patrick moved to Elgin, Illinois in 1977, where he resided until 1981, when he moved to Algonquin, Illinois. Patrick was active in the neighborhood association of the Indian Grove subdivision in Algonquin. He worked as a Realtor for Stark Realtors in Elgin, Illinois and owned and operated Alpha-Zed, a home computer service company. Patrick spent his spare time researching family genealogy, reading mysteries, watching classic movies, listening to big band music and enjoying the companionship of his beloved dog, Jack. Patrick is survived by his nephew, Robert Dale Sheahan, Jr, and his wife Jackie of Mosinee, WI, and close friends Philip and Mary Martin of Algonquin, IL He is predeceased by his parents, William and Gladys; brothers Edward Thomas Sheahan, William Daniel Sheahan, and Robert Dale Sheahan; sister Eulala Margaret Sheahan Longden Lewis; and his companion of 39 years, David V. Erickson.Graveside services will be held January 19th 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Algonquin Cemetery, located at the corner of Rt.31 and Cary Algonquin Rd. Cremation rites have been accorded. A house fire in Algonquin claimed the life of an 84-year-old Algonquin man, whom authorities say died Wednesday morning of smoke inhalation.
Patrick Sheahan was found dead after the fire burned through the floor of his ranch home on the 4700 block of Iroquois Road, according to the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.
According to fire district officials, a neighbor called 911 about the fire at 11:11 p.m. and fire crews were on the scene four minutes later to find smoke and fire showing. Firefighters found Sheahan and a dog, which also died.
