Leo was born May 28, 1924, at Mandan, to Adam and Catherine (Gress) Boehm. After graduating from Mandan High School he entered the U.S. Army. Having completed his service to his country he lived in California, where he met his future wife, Johnny Ruth Hybarger, whom he married Sept. 9, 1947, at Mandan.
Leo was employed as an engineer for Northern Pacific Railroad/BNSF for 30 years and during that time he fed his entrepreneurial spirit as a real-estate developer. Leo was intrigued by the challenge and the art of making a deal. Properties established by Leo are, Sharon Heights Addition and Monte's Rancheros in Mandan. With his great sense of humor, he would often tell stories beginning from the time as a boy raising rabbits and pigeons. Apparent was his love of nature as he was always drawn to the land. Living on a farm west of Mandan, he was most happy watching the agriculture production. A hard worker, friendly, and most of all he was proud of his family, who will miss his generous spirit of being there for them at a moment's notice.
Leo is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Eric) Sletten, Palm Desert, Calif.; his son, Monte (Mary), Mandan; six grandchildren, Andrea (Todd) Christianson, Angela Boehm (Tim Troy), Alicia (Jeremy) Lindsey, Lee Boehm, Gina Sletten and Casey Sletten; three great-grandchildren, Abigail and Travis Christianson and Corinne Lindsey; and three brothers, Ralph (Gloria), Blaine, Wash., Michael, Lincoln, Calif., and Paul (Judy), San Jose, Calif.
Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Johnny Ruth (Hybarger) Boehm, who died in 1997; his parents, Adam and Catherine (Gress) Boehm; three brothers, Frank, Casper and Joseph; one sister, Matilda Boehm; and three sisters-in-law, Viola, Ann and Pat Boehm.
