Obituary
Harold W. Lanzer, age 87, of Holgate, died Sunday evening, April 15, 2012
at St. Luke?s Hospital, Maumee.
His Legacy... He was born February 20, 1925 to Carl and Laura (nee Fetter)
Lanzer in Malinta. He graciously served his country in the US Army
during WWII, was a member of the Holgate American Legion post 340 and
a member of the 100th Infantry Division Association. On November 6,
1954 he married Marilyn Rosenbauer. He was a member of St. Mary?s
Catholic Church, Holgate. Harold was a self employed carpenter, cabinet
maker and builder. After retirement, he created the Independence Hall,
Harold W. Lanzer Museum in 3/8 scale in Holgate from blue prints that he
designed. He was also the author of the Book entitled ?Freedom: Two
Hundred Years Plus?. He also was the bicentennial clock maker.
His Family... Surviving is his loving wife Marilyn of 58 years; daughters,
Patricia (Larry) Newton, Defiance, Rebecca (Eric) Newton, Defiance,
Debra (Robert) Wick, Elmira, NY, Sharon (Larry) Steffel, DeMotte, IN; 8
grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers, Herbert Lanzer, Hamler
and Wilbur Lanzer, Napoleon and a sister Lavon Maier, Fort Wayne, IN.
Harold was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Alan and Katelyn Steffel
and a sister, Arlene Ludwig.
His Farewell Services... Friends will be received in the Zachrich Funeral
Home, Holgate on Thursday from 2-5 and 6-8 pm with the rosary being
recited at 7:30 that evening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at
10:30 am in St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Holgate with Father Stephen
Stanbery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with
military honors accorded by joint veterans posts of Holgate and New
Bavaria. Contributions can be made in Harold?s memory to St. Mary?s
Catholic Church for masses or Holgate American Legion Post 340.
