  [S927] Obituary. Doris Jean Burkhart age 77, of Tippecanoe, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 at her residence, following a lengthy illness. Born March 19, 1935 at Uhrichsville, Ohio, Doris was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Bahmer) Burkhart. In 1953, Doris graduated from Freeport High School. She was employed at the Freeport Press for 17 years. Doris was a member of the Tippecanoe United Methodist Church and was a member of the West Chester Senior Center. She enjoyed working on the farm, doing jigsaw puzzles and gardening. Doris is survived by her siblings Hazel Wood of Uhrichsville, Peggy McGaha of Freeport, Ellen Dickson of Rapid City, S. D. and John Burkhart of Tippecanoe; numerous nieces and nephews, especially her niece and caregiver Martha Hunt and her dog "Killer". In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her siblings Jim Burkhart and Wilma Staley. In keeping with Doris' wishes, cremation will take place with no services or calling hours being observed.
