Birth: Jan. 19, 1915MottHettinger CountyNorth Dakota, USADeath: Jul. 2, 2010BismarckBurleigh CountyNorth Dakota, USA Mass of Christian Burial for Emelia Hirsch, age 95 of Mott, will be held at 10:00 am MT, Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Mott. Fr. Bill Cosgrove will officiate with burial in Sunnyslope Cemetery at Mott. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 pm MT on Tuesday evening at St. Vincent's Catholic Church. Serving as casketbearers are Mark Knudson, Andre Twite, Cheralyn Heid, Gabrail Twite, Danilelle Hirsch, Matthew Hirsch, and Daniel Gildemeister. Emelia Hirsch, 95, Mott passed away July 2, 2010 in Bismarck, at her daughters home with her loving family by her side. Emelia Steiner Hirsch was born January 19, 1915 to Joseph and Magdelina (Barth) Steiner on the family farm northeast of Mott in the St. Placidus area. She was the oldest daughter of fifteen children. She could only attend school thru the sixth grade then stayed at home to help with the younger children. She married Ralph Hirsch on Novemenber 26, 1934. They purchased their farm northeast of Mott. In 1952, they built a new home in Mott and became sidewalk farmers. Farming was their pride and joy until their retirement. They spent 15 years traveling to Texas during the winter months. Emilia enjoyed working on the history of the St. Placidus Church as she knew all the people in the area. Her great granddaughter did an interview of her for her American History Class at Century High School in Bismarck. The class made a documentary of "The Great Depression Do With Or Without". The movie was shown on a local arts channel 12. She was very sharp and could recall many people and dates, of which she had stories from years back. She is survived by 3 children; Carolyn Twite, Bismarck, Marlene Betz, Burnsville, MN, and Duane (Mary) Hirsch, Burnsville, MN; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, three great step grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren and two great great step grandchildren; four sisters Martha Karls, Phoenix, AZ, Agnes (Al) Koehmsted, Garebaldi, OR, Tina Rixen (Ray Ficek) New England, ND, Adeline (Doug) Mitchell, Jamestown, ND, and four brothers; Lee Steiner, Billings, MT, Mike Steiner (Agnes), Helena, MT, Val Steiner (Rozella), Bozeman, MT, and Anton Steiner (Caroline) Mott, ND. Emelia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ralph, two grandsons, Jeffrey and Russell Twite, one son-in- law, Benjamin Twite, one sister, Margaret and five brothers, Leonard, Sam, Adam, Joseph, and Robert. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 6, from 1:00 to 5:30 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Mott. Burial: Su nny Slope Cemetery MottHettinger CountyNorth Dakota, USA
