Birth: Aug. 18, 1926 Death: Jan. 4, 2008 GERSTLE, ALVIN E., 81, a resident of Chapel House in Louisville, passed away Friday, January 4, 2008. He was a retired employee of Churchill Downs, a former employee of the old Railway Express Company, with 30 plus years of service, a former member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and a member of St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Zinner and Rita Ellison (Dave); brother, Joseph (Tess), of Randalstown, MD; sister-in-laws, Mary Gerstle, Mary Ann Gerstle and Ealana Gerstle; 23 nieces and nephews; 35 great-nieces and nephews; and eight great-great-nieces and nephews.. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Louis Bertrand, 1104 S. 6th St., followed by interment in St. Louis Cemetery. Visitation: 1-8 p.m. Monday at Arch L. Heady-Russman & Sons Funeral Home, 1201 E.
