  [S927] Obituary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Alfred Engelbert Ruef at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 1 at St. Mary's By the Sea Catholic Church in Rockaway Beach. Alfred was born August 19, 1918 in Milwaukie, Oregon to Ignatius and Mary (Gier) Ruef and passed away February 15, 2012 in Nehalem, at the age of 93. Alfred married Barbara Ann Vollman on October 21, 1939 in Sheridan, Oregon. They moved to Garibaldi and Tillamook from 1945 until 1962 while he worked at Oregon Washington Plywood Mill in Garibaldi. They moved to Eugene and Alfred worked at Triangle Veneer.? After the death of his wife in 1990 he moved to Manzanita. Alfred was a member of the Catholic Church, and a life member of the Tillamook Elks Lodge #1437.?He enjoyed fishing and beach combing. Alfred is survived by his daughter-in-law Mary Ruef of Nehalem; son Ken Ruef and his wife Susan of Kent, Wash; grandchildren Brian Ruef of Nehalem, Jennifer Bauer of Apple Valley, Minn., Eric Ruef and his wife Emily of Falls City, Kevin Ruef of Seattle, Wash. and Wendi Ruef Hubley and her husband Robert of Seattle and 10 great-grandchildren.?Alfred was preceded in death by his son Steve Ruef and wife Barbara. Memorial contributions may be made to the Al Ruef Scholarship fund under the auspices of St. Vincent de Paul, 1062 Charnelton St. Eugene, OR 97401-3027. An inurnment will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 2, at St. James Cemetery in McMinnville. Arrangements in care of Waud's Funeral Home, Tillamook.
