John Edward Rund, 64, of Hume, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 20, 2004) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital in Mattoon. Funeral services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23 at Joines Funeral Home, 401 W. Gillogly St. in Newman; Officiating: Father Paul Skelton; Burial: Young America Cemetery in Hume; Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22 at the funeral home. Mr. Rund was born Nov. 20, 1940, in Tuscola, the son of Wilbert and Helena Schafer Rund. He married Doris Floyd on Dec. 3, 1962, in Newman. She survives. Also surviving are: four daughters, Cynthia Cummin of Ashmore, Debra Lemmon of Broadlands, Penny Marcrum of Tuscola and Tina Rund of Sidney; five brothers, Raymond Rund and Robert Rund of Hume, Laurence Rund of Titusville, Fla., Joseph Rund of Lucedale, Miss., and Valentine Rund of Sacramento, Calif.; one sister, Shirley Camp of Paris; nine grandchildren, Angela Sanders, Nicole Marcrum, Eric Marcrum, Jacob Sanders, Jonathan Marcrum, Brittany Sanders, Chance Lemmon, Cole Lemmon, Skyler Chesnut and one stepgrandchild, Whitney Lemmon. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Donald, and two sisters, Pauline Ochs and Alice Cunningham. Mr. Rund was an Army veteran and a member of the Hume American Legion. He worked at General Motors in Danville for 35 years, retiring in 1992.
