Joseph Laverne Rund, 80, of Lucedale died July 25, 2014. A retired Air Force and Army veteran, he was born November 18, 1933.
He was a member of the Catholic faith, a retired police officer with the city of Paris, Illinois and with the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC).
He is survived by his daughter Doris Johnson (Raymond) Cook of Lucedale; grandchildren Brett (Candy) Johnson of Purvis, Pamela Nihiser of Colorado Springs, Colo., Michael (Carmen) Johnson of Lucedale and Christopher Nihiser of Nebraska; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Shirley Camp of Marshall Ill. and a brother Bob Rund of Hume, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Rund, a daughter Patricia Rund and parents Wilbert and Helene Rund.
George County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
