He was one of eleven brothers and sisters. Frederick W Seibel married Katharina Puster on 17 February 1877 at St Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jersey City, NJ. Frederick and Katharina had eight children: Caroline "Carrie" Seibel Zaeh, Katherine "Katie" Seibel Frintner, Fred William Seibel, Amalia Seibel, Anna Maria Seibel, Phillip A. Seibel, Lulu Seibel Sayre, John Nicholas Seibel Frederick (Friedrich) Seibel deserted the German Army in 1870 just two months short of the start of the Franco-Prussia War (July 1870-May 1871) Frederick immigrated to America 26 May 1870 on the Holstia Ship. As a family story goes, Germany told Frederick Seibel that his family had $42,000,000 from the Seibel Ferry that was unclaimed. Alfred Kiefer, a lawyer, investigated this claim and it proved to be false. This was a trick played on Frederick Seibel by Germany to get him back so their army could execute him. Frederick Seibel never returned to his native land, Germany. Frederick Seibel was a butcher by trade and his butcher shop was located at 185 Linden Avenue in Jersey City. At one point, this butcher shop went into bankruptcy. Frederick Seibel died July 1917 of a stroke.
