Alice Lorraine Voegele
Aberdeen - Alice Lorraine Voegele, 74, of Aberdeen, S.D., died Monday,
Sept. 12, 2005, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital. Funeral services will be
10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1732
South Main St., Aberdeen with Rev. Marcia Sylvester officiating. Burial
will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-7 p.m.,
Wednesday, at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 South Main St., Aberdeen
and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Alice
Lorraine Guthmiller was born east of Hosmer, S.D., on Sept. 22, 1930, to
August and Melitha (Walth) Guthmiller. She attended rural school, high
school and two years of college. Alice married Leonhardt Voegele of
Roscoe, S.D., on June 26, 1949, northeast of Hosmer. They made their
home in Aberdeen for 49 years. She taught school for 17 years and was
employed as the secretary for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for
23 years before retiring in 1995. She was a member of Zion Lutheran
Church in Aberdeen, where she was a member of the Altar Guild for many
years. She also did volunteer work for RSVP. Her greatest joy was
working in her yard and collecting dolls. She also loved woodworking
with her husband. Survivors include her husband, Leonhardt; and her
sister, Gladys (Elmer) Voegele, both of Aberdeen. She was preceded in
death by her parents and one brother. Casketbearers will be Alice's
cousins: Floyd Mohr, James Mohr, Vernon Walth, Lawrence Walth, Allen
Walth and Frank Walth.
