Harvey Pietz, 76, Parkston, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Avera St. Benedict Hospital, Parkston.
Harvey Pietz, 76, Parkston, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Avera St. Benedict Hospital, Parkston.
He was born Nov. 14, 1936.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Friedens Reformed Church, Tripp. Burial will be in Friedens Reformed Cemetery, Tripp. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Goglin Funeral Home, Tripp.
Survivors include five siblings: Leroy Pietz of Tripp; Myra Bartelt of Parkston; Merlin (Judy) Pietz of Parker; Richard (Sharon) Pietz of Sioux Falls; and Calvin (Ann) Pietz of Mitchell.

He graduated
from Tripp High School in 1954. Harvey earned his
bachelor?s degree in wildlife
management from South Dakota
State University in Brookings in
1958.
Harvey was a game
management biologist for the
Dept. of Game, Fish and Parks
for over
34 years. He began his
career in Pierre, later moving to
Yankton for several years. He
returned to Pierre and continued
to liv
e there after retiring in 1992.
Harvey
contracted polio in 1952
and was handicapped in his lower
extremities for the rest of his
life. Never letting his disability
stop him from enjoying the pursuits that he loved, Harvey
spent countless hours
hunt
ing both large and small game
and
fish
ing
. He was an expert game caller and had won first place
in a duck calling contest.
He
enjoyed
ga
rdening and
loved to
experiment with a variety of vegetables, plants and fruit trees.

following a battle with cancer
on
Wednesday, March 6, 2013
at Avera St. Benedict Hospital in
Parkston
at the age of 7
6 years, 3 months, and 23 days.
Harvey is survived by five siblings: Leroy Pietz of Tripp,
Myra Bartelt of Parkston, Merlin (Judy) Pietz of
Parker, Richard (Sharon) Pietz of Sioux Falls,
and Calvin (Ann) Pietz of Mitchell; and many
nieces and nephews.

Pietz; and one sister, Gloria Hough.
