Stepka-Johnson BORN: May 7, 1934 DIED: March 12, 2010 LOCATION: Davenport, Iowa Ann K. Johnson, 75, of Davenport, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010, at her residence. Funeral services and a Mass of Christian burial to celebrate her life will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Davenport with Monsignor James Parizek and Rev. Tom Parlette officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park in Davenport. Visitation is Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home. There will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. that all are invited to attend. Memorials may be made to St. Alphonsus Church, 2618 Boies Ave, Davenport, IA 52802. Ann was born May 7, 1934, on the family farm in Scotland, South Dakota, the daughter of James and Anna (Kocer) Stepka. She was united in marriage to Lester Johnson on October 12, 1954 in Tyndall, SD. Before moving to Iowa, Ann taught children in a country schoolhouse in Tyndall, SD. She was a loyal and loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed listening to music, looking at flowers, playing euchre, helping her grandchildren with their homework and sharing a good Czech meal with family and friends. Ann courageously endured the many debilitating stages of having Muscular Dystrophy. She was a devoted Catholic. She will continue to be our spiritual leader by her guiding daily testament to loss of physical ability while remaining strong in mind and spirit. She leaves behind her loving husband of 55 years, Les, daughters, Vicky Johnson (Jean Wakem), Searsmont, Maine and Lori (Michael) Black, Davenport. Grandchildren, Ashley, James, and Anna Black of Davenport. Sisters Dorothy Walloch and Helen Koupal, Davenport. Betty Siewert, Avon, SD and brother Ray Stepka, Tyndall, SD.
