Richard was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Forces 332nd Bomber Squadron, 94th Bomber Group, Heavy.
Service # 35234604.
He was the son of Rene Breting and Thelma Shrigley Breting.He left a widow, Melba Geldmacher Breting and an only child, Kathryn Elaine Breting Zeeck.
Lost aboard B-17G Flying Fortress #44-8237, nicknamed "Dallas Dollie" near/or over England.
Missing in Action
He entered the Service from New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Awards: In addition to the Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, he received the Presidential Unit Citation, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
In respect of the photos kindly provided by Kathryn - the first is a group photo of the flight crew and the other contains all the names of the flight crew and a photo of Richard.
