Helen Louise Muellecker, 89, of Alton, formerly of Pekin, passed away at 9:58 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 12, 1921, in Centralia to George Ferdinand and Clara Mae (Peeck) Oldendorph, she married Bill Lloyd Muellecker on Nov. 25, 1945, in Centralia. He died Dec. 31, 1978, in Peoria. She also was preceded in death by two brothers.
Surviving are a nephew, George L. (Linda) Oldendorph of Bethalto; three grand-nephews; one grand-niece and five great-grand-nieces and nephews.
From 1946 to 1962, Helen did clerical work in the parts and engineering offices for Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria.
Helen was a 50-year member of First United Methodist Church in Pekin, where she was also a member of the United Methodist Women, the Rebecca-Sarah Circle and the church choir. She also was a member of the Christian Women?s Club and the Crusader?s adult Sunday school class.
Helen was the past president of the Tazewell County Association for Home & Community Education Unit No. 3.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
