Charles married Belinda C Okey in 1852 in Stafford, Ohio. She was born July 8, 1835 in Woodsfield, Monroe, Ohio and died July 27, 1913 in Hull, Iowa. He was born in February of 1867 at Eagle, Wisconsin and died January 1, 1951 in Long Beach, California. Business Man In Hawarden For 42 Years Succumbs Word was received in Hawarden Wednesday of the death of W. H. Wilkinson, 83, former Hawarden business man, who died Monday following a lingering illness. Mr. Wilkinson submitted to an operation more than two years ago and since then had been in poor health. Funeral services are being held from Mottell chapel in Long Beach this afternoon. Burial will be in Long Beach. Mr. Wilkinson was in the hardware business in Hawarden 42 years. He retired in January, 1944 when he sold his business to the late Don C. McCown. Shortly after he sold his residence here and in May of that year he and his wife moved to California so that they might be near their son. William Wilkinson was born in February of 1867 at Eagle, Wis., where he grew to manhood. In 1888 he came west, locating at Hull, then known as Pattersonville. When he moved to Hull he was employed as a tinner by a former resident of his home town. Later he purchased this hardware business. On July 20, 1892 he married Miss Allie Yockey in the home of her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Grisell, at Hull. In 1901 he came to Hawarden. Both Mr. and Mrs. Wilkinson took an active part in social and civic affairs of Hawarden in the early days. At one time he served as mayor, completing an unexpired term, and he was also a member of the city council. He was one of the promoters of the Knights of Pythias here in the earlier days and held an office in this lodge. He was also a member of the Masonic lodge. He was a member of the Congregational church and a number of years he served on the board of control of the Associated church. He is survived by his widow and one son, Zeno, of Long Beach, and tow grandchildren, Jane of Long Beach and Charles Zeno, who is in the service. The Hawarden Independent, Hawarden, Sioux, Iowa. Thursday, January 11, 1951; p9. W. H. Wilkinson Dies in California W. H. Wilkinson of Long Beach, Calif., as stated last week in the Hawarden Independent, died New Years Day. Mr. Wilkinson was in business in Hawarden 42 years before going to California. In letter from his son, Zeno Wilkinson, of Long Beach, he stated his father died in the Veterans Administration hospital in Long Beach. Funeral services were held last Thursday. Burial was in Sunnyside mausoleum in North Long Beach. Zeno also stated that his father was a Spanish American war veteran, being a member of Company E, Fourth Regiment, Iowa National Guard for 12 years and was mustered into service in 1898 and was stationed at Chickmauga Park, Chattanooga, Tenn., that spring and summer. He was a member of the Pythian lodge at Hull and Hawarden, of Dale lodge 456, A. F. and A. M., of Hawarden, Sioux City Consistory No. 5, Columbia Commandry No. 120, Congregational church, Rotary International and Spanish American Veterans Co. 94 in Long Beach. She was graduated from the Stafford high school after which she took a two year course in the Iowa State Teachers college at Cedar Falls. Later she taught in the public schools at Sioux Center. On July 20, 1892, she was married to W. H. Wilkinson of hull in the home of her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Grissel [sic - Grisell] at Hull. After her marriage, she lived nine years at Hull and in 1901 Mr. and Mrs. Wilkinson came to Hawarden. Mr. Wilkinson then purchased the M. J. Finch hardware business, which he operated 41 years. Mrs. Wilkinson was active in social, civic and church affairs during the early days in Hawarden. She was a member of the Congregational church and took an active part in the various organizations of that church. She is survived by a son, Zeno, of Long Beach, one sister, Mrs. Adelaide Duncan of Chicago; two grandchildren, Jane and Charles Zeno, and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Allie Wilkinson, 88, of Long Beach, Calif., who lived in Hawarden 46 years before going to California in 1947, died last Wednesday following a long illness.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Long Beach.
