Helen Katherine Schorzman was born Nov. 26, 1917, in Kimama, to Julius Franz Schorzman and Margaret Guthmiller Schorzman. She joined two sisters, Miriam and Lydia. During the next eleven years, they were joined by six brothers, Maurice, Raymond, Nolan, William, Herman, and Wallace. Helen spent her first eight years in Kimama where she attended the first and second grades. Her family then moved to the Rupert area where she attended the third and fourth grades of school. Her parents moved to a farm east of Declo where they farmed for a number of years. Helen attended school through the tenth grade there.
She met Lloyd Franklin Wolf while driving a tractor for her dad during the hay harvest. They started dating shortly after that. There were married several years later on April 12, 1937, in the Little Flower Catholic Church in Burley, Idaho. Four children were born to this union, Joe, Richard, Gary, and Shirlene. They made their home in the Springdale area and later moved to Lloyd?s parents farm where she still resided. Helen loved to crochet, sew and garden. She was an active participant in the Catholic Church all her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd, one son, Gary and two sisters, Miriam and Lydia; six brothers, Maurice, Raymond, Nolan, William, Herman, and Wallace; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie, Lou, and Ruth, and one daughter-in-law, Linda Horton Wolf.
She is survived by her sons Joe Wolf and Richard (Karen) Wolf, and her daughter, Shirlene (Arlen) Adams, nine grandchildren, Brenda, Brent, Denise, Staci, Ty, Stephanie, Cory, Karrie, and Travis, twenty two great grandchildren with one more due in November, and one sister-in-law, Millie Schorzman.
Helen passed away after a valiant fight with cancer at 11:43 a.m. Aug. 11, 2006 at the Cassia Regional Medical Center, her loving family at her side. Helen lived a full life being involved with family, friends, and church. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, with the Rev. Father Mike St. Marie as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley. A vigil service will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at the Payne Mortuary in Burley. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
