Harold Lang, and American Original, age 86, of Salt Lake City, died January 18, 1993 at St. Joseph's Villa of cancer.
He was born January 10, 1907 in Smithshire, Illinois to Frank Rudolph and Emma Elizabeth Eichhorn Lang. One of six children, Harold grew up on a farm in Illinois. Graduated from Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois in 1929. Worked for American Chicle Co. in Long Island, New York. Married Dorothy Bernice Teague at home in Pendleton, Indiana, July 29, 1933. Moved to Salt Lake City in 1945. Employed by Arnold Machinery Co. until his retirement in 1972. Married Welcome Kistner Dec. 26, 1981. Member, First Presbyterian Church for 47 years. Harold was an elder of First Church, treasurer of their Centennial Drive, active in Troop 34, a volunteer at Holy Cross Hospital, and a Seniors Tax Advisor. He loved his garden, travel and his family. He tenderly cared for his wives through their declining health.Survivors include son, William R. Lang and wife, Susan, Salt Lake City; stepdaughters, Mrs. Bette (Wayne) Settle, Santa Rosa, California; Mrs. Phyllis (Don) King, East Moline, Illinois; and Dixie Dalton, Salt Lake City; four grandchildren, David, Stephanie, John and Elizabeth; brother, Howard Lang, Ft. Myers, Florida; sisters, Mrs. Lucy Burrill, Indianapolis, Ind.; and Mrs. Kathryn Blackslee, Prescott, Ariz. Preceded in death by wives, Dorothy, Nov. 20, 1980; and Welcome, Aug. 14, 1992; brothers, John and Clyde.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 21, 1993, 12 noon at the Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 South, with Rev. Robert Sewell officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening 7-8 p.m. at the mortuary and one hour prior to services Thursday. Burial, Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Joseph's Villa or the American Cancer Society.
