Willis D. Varner, 90, of Victory Place, Marietta, died March 21, 2006, in Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Beallsville, a son of the late Joseph and Hazel Riley Varner.
He had been maintenance electrician at Union Carbide Company for 30 years. He was a member of the Harmar Hill Church of Christ and was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army Corps.
Surviving are his wife, B. Viola Truex, whom he married July 26, 1939; three sons, William (Donna) Varner of Waterford, Terry L. Varner (fiancée, Brenda Walker) and Randall D. (Susan) Varner of Marietta; five grandchildren, Wendy (Ben) Coyle, Amanda M. (Steven) Guglielmi and Allie K. Varner of Ohio State University, all of Columbus, Ashley Varner and Adam Varner of Marietta; one great-granddaughter, Anna Rae Coyle of Columbus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight Varner.
Friends were received March 23 and 24 until the hour of the service at McClure-Schafer-Langford Funeral Home, Marietta, with W. Terry Varner officiating. Burial in East Lawn Memorial Park.
