Ruben Tiede, 89
May 14, 1916 - March 18, 2006
Funeral services for Ruben B. Tiede were held Thursday, March 23, 2006, at 2 p.m., at Salem United Church of Christ, Parkston, with the Rev. Elmo Herman officiating. Music was furnished by the UCC Men?s Quartet, and Mary Tiede, organist.
Interment was made in the Parkston Protestant Cemetery with Koehn Bros. Funeral Home, Parkston, in charge of arrangements. Casketbearers were Terry Leischner, Duane Lindeman, Daren Lindeman, Doug Lindeman, Dylan Lindeman, and Mark Tiede,
Ruben Tiede was born May 14, 1916, to Gustave and Pauline (Koenig) Tiede at Parkston. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school through the eighth grade. He helped his parents on the farm until being united in marriage to Laverna Leischner on February 14, 1946, at Milltown. Together they lived and farmed south of Parkston until retiring into town in 1975.
He was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Parkston and was a founding member of the UCC Men?s Choir in which he sang for over 50 years.
He died Saturday, March 18, at his home in Parkston at the age of 89 years.
He is survived by two children, Darrell Tiede and wife, Janet, Parkston, and Beth Christie and husband, Allen, Pierre; four grandchildren, Cory Tiede and wife, Leisa, Parkston, Stacy Weber, Sioux Falls, Matthew Christie and wife, Amy, Brookings, and Jeffrey Christie and fiancee, Sarah Diede, Sioux Falls; four great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jared Tiede, and Tucker and Spencer Christie; one sister, Juanita Lindeman, Parkston; and three brothers, Arnett Tiede, Harold Tiede and wife, Eldora, and Vernon Tiede and wife, Irene, all of Parkston.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Laverna.
